[Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] Bug#537445: restoring leaves kvm-instance in unusable state

Package: libvirt-bin
Version: 0.6.4-1
Severity: important

I am using libvirt-bin together with kvm 85+dfsg-4.

I can use virsh to save the state of my machines just fine; at least
there is no error reported. However, if I try to restore the
machine, kvm starts fine and I can connect to the qemu pty, but when
I connect to the ttyconsole, the login prompt is not there. A minute
later, the VM reboots and then works fine.

During save, the host's kernel log shows

  kvm: 22871: cpu0 unhandled rdmsr: 0xc0010117

When I restore, I see

  kvm: 19696: cpu0 unhandled rdmsr: 0xc0010117
  kvm: 22871: cpu0 unhandled wrmsr: 0xc0010117
  kvm: 22871: cpu0 unhandled rdmsr: 0xc0010117
  kvm: 22871: cpu0 unhandled rdmsr: 0xc0010117

followed by 240 of those messages:

  vcpu not ready for apic_round_robin
  [4/second for precisely 60 seconds]

and then

  kvm: 24503: cpu0 unhandled wrmsr: 0xc0010117 data 0

just before the reboot.

This might be a kvm problem, but I can't figure out how to
save/restore with kvm directly, so I am filing it here.
