Subject: Need to be root

Hi Ian,
You need to be root to talk to the XEN HV later on (at least in this
ver- if you are you can write to that location. See get_scratchdir in
the source.
Cheers,

Guido, thanks for the reply, I'm afraid you've lost me. You need to be root, eh so does this mean the install need be done as root,
i.e. invoke virt-manager with
sudo virt-manager,
invoking root status? to that location, do you mean /var/lib/xen/? The paravirt install failed citing permission denied.
I don't understand what the file /var/lib/xen/virtinst-.treeinfo._9njz refers to.
It doesn't exist in /var/lib/xen. Is the install trying to create it in /var/lib/xen?
What is the source for get_scratchdir?
I'd be happy to follow your suggestion through but I need to follow it.

This has been improved in 0.500.1 where .virtinst/ is being used.

makes me think of libvirt allocating permissions. Is that on the right track.
I decided to send this to your own email address too just to ensure it gets through to you.

Ian
