There's been a suggestion just to kill the 'nc' process rather than try
and waitpid, which may get rid of the need to use the -q option on
suse/debian machines. A gentoo user was recently saying that on his nc
version, disconnect detection wasn't that reliable anyways and would
sometimes hang, so kill might be the way to go in general. I'll test it
today.
