i just noticed that if i change "Grab keyboard input" in the VM Details
tab of the Preferences dialog from "Never" to "On mouse over", then it
does the right thing with ^W and ^Q if you focus the window by clicking
in it.

so it looks like the feature is there, it's just badly documented -
misleadingly misnamed - because the console DOESN'T actually grab
keyboard input on mouse-over, you still have to click in the window.

what else does "Grab keyboard input" do? if nothing else, then maybe
it should be renamed "Disable Menu Accelerators". I'm reluctant to try
Ctrl-Alt-Del because i don't want to accidentally reboot my machine (and
it doesn't grab Ctrl-Alt-F1)

BTW, i'm running virt-manager 0.8.3-2 from sid.
