That is exactly what my patch does!
Currently the build-dependency is valac-0.20, but vala 0.20 will be 
removed someday, which would lead to FTBFS.
With build-depending on valac (>= 0.20) gtk-vnc builds with both 
valac-0.20 and valac-0.22 (and probably also future versions), so you 
won't have to care anymore after this change.

That's what I mean with 'ease this and future transitions'.
