Yes, there were several fixes in this area in 1.2.9.

I just noticed that I didn't upload the final 1.2.9 to experimental
yet although it's packaged since a couple of days. The aim is to
upload that version to unstable once 1.2.8 is in jessie hopefully not to late
to enter jessie.

What issues with kvm in sid are you seeing? We should be able to run
with a recent qemu/kvm.
