We don't use socket activation _only_ since this would break the
autostart feature of domains/networks/storage pools/...

However if we come up with a solution that checks for autostarts on boot
and only then starts the daemon using socket activation _only_ would be
fine. (given that there aren't any other reasons I currently can't
remember).

If you don't want to have the daemon running you can just remove the
libvirt-daemon-system package.
