That gave a hint, it's probably the machine definition. A newly
created guest has "pc-i440fx-2.7" and everything works fine. My old
guests have "pc-1.1" and get stuck. The attached .xml was created
using the gui, then the machine changed using virsh edit. That change
triggered the issue.
