That is a global setting though that disables dynamic ownership completely,
which is a blunt tool.

There could be a separate setting for read-only media, or a per-device
override in the domain.xml, the latter is probably more useful.
I'm leaving the bug report closed for now, but I'd be grateful if it could
be reopened.
