The autopkgtest backends are based on lxc. Only on amd64 do we have also 
qemu backends, but that requires whitelisting (I can add libguestfs if 
you tell me that makes sense). We only have qemu on amd64 because we 
don't have hardware supported emulation elsewhere.

I have the feeling you're asking something slightly different, if so, 
please elaborate.
