Thanks, that certainly makes it easier to set things up manually.

It would be nice to have a package that includes the necessary symlinks 
out-of-the-box (/usr/lib/LLVMgold.so, /usr/lib/bfd-plugins/LLVMgold.so, 
/usr/lib/libLTO.so; see the original report).  Do you want a separate bug 
for that?

In the Ubuntu oneiric build, LLVMgold.so got mangled such that its 
dependency on libLTO.so is dropped, leading to errors like “LLVMgold.so: 
undefined symbol: lto_module_get_symbol_name”.  The Debian build works.  
I’ll file an Ubuntu bug unless you happen to have an idea.
