Sure, I understand your frustration. However, I do not agree with the 
statement of broken.
clang-8 is able to build many software (including Firefox).

Your issue isn't great but not a blocker.

However, if a Debian developer wants to take care of the backport of the 
fix+testing+backport of the package,
I won't object.
