Hello Matthew,
This may be best addressed to the upstream lxcfs project on github,
as Debian's packaging is pretty simple and doesn't modify the behavior
of lxcfs.
I don't utilize containers at the scale that you do, so I haven't
been able to directly reproduce this. Have you tried the current
release of lxcfs (5.0.2)? I do host an unofficial backport of lxcfs for
bullseye in my personal repo [1] if you'd like to give it a try.
