[Pkg-lxde-maintainers] notification-daemon autostart?

The package lxde-core recommends notification-daemon, however the
notification-daemon package dropped the XDG autostart file in version
3.20.0-1 (the changelog explains it was dropped upstream).
If you install both LXDE and notification-daemon (common, because it's
recommended) it would be nice if everything "just worked".
Are you already familiar with this gripe?
Do you have any thoughts on the "right" way to address it?
The simplest thing I can think of is for the package that recommends
notification-daemon (lxde-core) to ship an autostart file.
(Would that create any new problems if someone chose to install a
different notification-daemon, e.g. dunst?)
Bug #814949 contains some additional discussion of the
notification-daemon autostart file.
