Well initially we all worked towards an etch release in December.
Reality is that we're still in the etch freeze. ATM I'd like to get 1.4.3-3
through unstable into etch to fix an assertion problem which is one half
of the block for an 1.4.4 package in unstable.
The other half of the blocker for 1.4.4 is that we've to coordinate the move
of the LyX related latex-beamer beamer parts into the LyX package.
It would be a little bit easier if etch where out of the way so that we could
break some things in unstable without the risc to eventually producing
bigger trouble.

Work with the latex beamer maintainer to remove the lyx part of the package.
It's quite easy and I'm personally using some 1.4.4 packages from our svn
trunk in conjunction with a selfmade NMU of the latex-beamer package.

Depending on the timeframe it may take to release etch and get the latex-beamer
stuff sorted out it might be even reasonable to skip the 1.4.4 release
completly and go with 1.5 directly.

Another wishlist thing for 1.5 would be a working build with external boost
libs but that would require a new boost release or at least a pre cvs upload.
To have it in experimental would be nice but I didn't receive an answer yet
from the boost packaging guys. Looking through the pkg-boost svn and their
mailinglist it seems that they're quite short on manpower.
