Ok this whole issue is a bit complicated.

The main problem around the breaklinks thing seems to be to find some proper
tools for the conversion that handle the url correctly. So far I couldn't find
a way to get it working. For reference see the TeX FAQ

What did work is using the breakurl package with an \url ERT.

Sven, still don't know where this bug belongs but hey there's a workaround. :)
