[Pkg-mactel-devel] Installing/booting Debian jessie on a Mac Pro 1, 1

Hello all,

I'm very new to the Debian; I've been mostly using Solaris and MacOS.

I've recently been running Debian Jessie in parallel with OSX 10.6 I submitted an installation-report 773732.

My intention is to use the Debian jessie kfreebsd-amd64 architecture on a zfs-on-root installation. The above installation report is on conventional GPT ext2/ext4/ufs partitions parallel to OSX.

What I didn't say in the installation report is that I've never gotten the installer (or netinst) dvd1 for Debian amd64 to boot. The dvd/cd's have an extra UEFI session that confuses the Mac Pro firmware. I installed and am running the jessie i386 system to be able to compare it to the jessie kfreebsd-amd64 system.

If anyone on this list can tell me how to boot the amd64 installer, I'd love to try it.

Glad to have found this list,

David Henderson
