Argh. Yes. So here's what I plan to do:
- If MTA is Manual (or not set in mm_cfg), then display a debconf
note about it.
- If MTA is Postfix, run bin/genaliases automatically.
- If MTA is None, don't do anything.
- Replace the compatibility symlink with a wrapper script that maps
the old commands to the new commands, so that it works as well as
it can in the Manual case before the admin has intervened.
The thing was already documented in README.Debian, but that's not
enough, indeed.
