[Pkg-mailman-hackers] Bug#445019: Pipermail doesn't like MIME parts with implicit content type

Package: mailman
Version: 1:2.1.9-7
(This is most probably an upstream bug; however, since I'm not at leisure
to test the upstream version of Pipermail, I'm submitting it here.
I'd be grateful if you could consider forwarding it upstream if relevant.)
Pipermail discards the bodies of PGP-signed mails generated by Gnus 5.11.
For an example, please see
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/babel-users/2007-October/000000.html
This is due to the fact that unlike most mailers, Gnus omits the
content-type of MIME parts whenever it is allowed to do so by
RFC 2046, Section 5.1. Hence, a multipart/signed message looks as so:
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="=-=-=";
micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"
--=-=-=
<body text>
--=-=-=
Content-Type: application/pgp-signature
<signature>
--=-=-=--
The first part has no headers -- the implied content type is
``text/plain; charset=us-ascii'' --, and gets discarded by pipermail.
(Note that this particular mail is sent using a hacked version of
Gnus; I'll be glad to send you some signed e-mail from the pristine
version if you need me to.)
Thanks for your help,
Juliusz Chroboczek
