If run 'ps aux|less', the PID 1 is /sbin/init ,
If run 'ps -p 1', it is systemd.

An init system is roughly the task scheduler of your system.
Essentially, into Debian, the default is systemd. One common alternative is
sysvinit. Whas is the name of the first process that runs on your server?
(ps aux|less and go top).
