I agree with the proposed changes in the circumstances but I am used to Mailman2 and Mailman3 configuration changes.  Are we expecting any upgrade magic to happen between transitioning to the new packages (I don't believe this is a good idea myself), and if not, what would happen on a distro version upgrade for someone currently running Mailman2?
