Bug#803384: command-applet: Command Applet cuts off output string in the middle of multibyte characters

Dear Maintainer,

Unfortunately Command Applet lacks configuration settings, e.g. whether and where to cut
off the string it is given by the program it calls. If strings are cut off, this seems
simply to be done along byte boundaries, causing the panel to display an ‘unknown
character’ mark (white question mark on black diamond) and /var/log/syslog to show:
