Bug#821001: marco: cannot find how to configure compton

I have a problem with Compton and Virtualbox, as described here:

In order to overcome the problem, I'd like to follow the suggestred
solution, but I cannot find any way to pass configuration instructions
to Compton.  I think it is calle by Marco, but that's all I can say.

Is there a configuration file?
Are there docs somewhere on how to pass options to Compton?
Is there a GUI for that purpose?

Here is what I see with ps that Compton is called:

What I need is to add one more --shadow-exclude option for Virtualbox.
