Bug#837635: mate-settings-daemon: Segfaults when trying to display OSD notification

Package: mate-settings-daemon
Version: 1.14.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #837635
Note that here, brightness OSD notifications show (but display
brightness level *before* the change, or a similarly weird behavior,
but that's probably for a different bug), but volume keys do cause
the crash; worse, the volume keys have no effect on actual volume.
