Package: mate-utils
Version: 1.8.1+dfsg1-2+deb8u1

Dear maintainer,

When the MATE dictionary program is started from the main menu, then the
application appears, but a search term cannot be entered. The program
also does not respond when the menu items below the title bar are
clicked on. The window can be moved, resized, minimized and restored to
its original size, but the window cannot be closed.

The MATE dictionary program has worked fine until recently. The cause of
the problem is not known. My operating system (Debian Jessie) is up to
date, has no broken packages and its integrity has been checked with
debsums -l and debsums -ca.

Remarkably, when the application is added to the MATE panel it works
there.

When the application is started from a MATE terminal:

maarten at desktop-computer:~$ mate-dictionary

the MATE dictionary window appears, but the MATE terminal gives the
following error message 2 times immediately, and another 6 times after a
few seconds.

(mate-dictionary:3039): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_event: assertion
'WIDGET_REALIZED_FOR_EVENT (widget, event)' failed

MATE System Monitor shows that the MATE dictionary programs are sleeping
and that no process is raging. A mate-dictionary process can be ended by
the System Monitor.

Selection of package updates that I carried out this month and last
month:

gir1.2-gtk-2.0 (2.24.25-3+deb8u1) to 2.24.25-3+deb8u2
gtk2-engines-pixbuf (2.24.25-3+deb8u1) to 2.24.25-3+deb8u2
libgtk2.0-0 (2.24.25-3+deb8u1) to 2.24.25-3+deb8u2
libgtk2.0-bin (2.24.25-3+deb8u1) to 2.24.25-3+deb8u2
libgtk2.0-common (2.24.25-3+deb8u1) to 2.24.25-3+deb8u2

Other information:

maarten at desktop-computer:~$ uname -a
Linux desktop-computer 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.43-2+deb8u2
(2017-06-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux

maarten at desktop-computer:~$ dpkg -s libc6 | grep ^Version
Version: 2.19-18+deb8u10

According to Synaptic, mate-utils has installed:
/usr/share/applications/mate-dictionary.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mate-disk-usage-analyzer.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mate-screenshot.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mate-search-tool.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mate-system-log.desktop
but according to Caja, these files are not in /usr/share/applications to
be found.

Kind regards

Maarten
