Bug#768101: mate-media-gstreamer: asymmetric operation of mute/unmute

Package: mate-media-gstreamer
Version: 1.8.0+dfsg1-3
Severity: important

Unmuting sound after muting it results in no sound.
This happens whether clicking the "mute" button twice on the keyboard, or
whether right-clicking mixer-applet2, and clicking "mute" twice.
It does not happen when using the "mute" button within pavucontrol.

What happens can be seen by opening "mate-volume-control":
_ Device is set to "HDA Intel MID (Alsa mixer)".
_ In the "playback" tab, vertical sliders are shown, with "enable/disable"
buttons underneath, for master, headphone, speaker, PCM, Mic Boost, and
internal mic boost.
_ When clicking "mute" the first time, to mute sound, master and speaker are
disabled.
_ When clicking "mute" the second time, to unmute sound, only master is re-
enabled, leaving speaker disabled.

Because of this asymmetric operation of mute/unmute, sound cannot be re-enabled
using the mute button. The speaker has to be re-enabled using the
enable/disable buttons in mate-volume-control.
By comparison, pavucontrol behaves correctly: clicking "mute" in its UI twice
results in master and speaker being disabled and re-enabled, respectively.
