GPG/SSH agent in MATE desktop stopped working

Hi,

approximately since the 1.8.1-6, where a related patch was applied, the
GPS and SSH agent functionality stopped working.

I see gpg-agent and ssh-agent running:

dgeorg 1297 0.0 0.0 10684 340 ? Ss 08:41 0:00
/usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/gpg-agent --daemon --sh
--write-env-file=/home/dgeorg/.gnupg/gpg-agent-info-dgeorg-nb
/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session x-session-manager
dgeorg 1298 0.0 0.0 20236 2544 ? Ss 08:41 0:00
/usr/bin/gpg-agent --daemon --sh
--write-env-file=/home/dgeorg/.gnupg/gpg-agent-info-dgeorg-nb
/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session x-session-manager

And I see gnome-keyring-daemon running:

dgeorg 1270 0.0 0.1 282020 7260 ? Sl 08:41 0:00
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --login

However, no keys are unlocked at login.

What strikes me odd is that ssh-agent and gpg-agent are running, as I
thought gnome-keyring-daemon played their parts, but maybe I am mistaken
and they interoperate in some other way.

Also, reading the patch, it seems that nothing should have changed if I
do not touch the relevant gconf settings.

The behaviour is reproducible on a co-workers machine.

Any hints?

Cheers,
Nik
