Martin (Ubuntu MATE) and I (Debian) discussed your request and we
won't revert that patch for jessie.

The question we asked ourselves is: as what do we want to advertise
Caja, as file browser or as desktop manager.

We chose the more intuitive approach: as file browser. To make this
"file browser" as smooth as possible, I sat together with one of the
main upstream devs (Stefano Karaptsas) and worked out the quoted patch
(0002_dont-start-desktop-outside-of-MATE-sessions.patch). Note, that
this will be the default behavious of Caja in MATE 1.10 finally.

Please also note, that I can only speak for Caja. With Nautilus this
has absolutely nothing to do.
