Yes,is this not to be expected? I mean the whole point of the extension
is to keep things in sync, across platforms/os/whatever.

Yes I am using other OSs and wnat to keep them in sync...

Is there a technical reason for not upgrading the addon, or only
compatibility?

It seems that without the ability to sync against current status
the functionality of this package is severly broken.
