Right, but this is “just” a transient issue that may as well be fixed
with the upcoming point release.

Well, the future ESR upgrade of iceweasel is worth having in mind, i.e.
we should try to do our best to make an eventual fix working in a not
yet published version, but that shouldn’t stop us to fix the current issue.

It may not be welcome, but it already happened for at least enigmail and
adblockplus. In the mean time, the release team already accepted a bunch
of minimal patches that allow some extensions to work in both
stable-security and the current stable (at least a more invasive one has
been proposed for firetray, and has not yet been rejected).

I would strongly disagree (SC#3 We will not hide problems), if dactyl
happen to be broken in stable and no fix can address that, the package
should be removed from stable.
