Sorry for the slow reply.  I had been using Firebug installed via
addons.mozilla.org, but after uninstalling it and testing the packaged
version on both my default profile and a new profile, I'm unable to
reproduce the issue (using iceweasel 24.0-2 and xul-ext-firebug
1.9.2~b2-1). 

For me, it's safe to close this bug report.
