I have 2 systems on one mpd is still installed, on the other it is gone: 
apt-cache search mpd does not list an entry for mpd anymore

    * What led up to the situation?
apt-get update
I tried ftp.fr.debian.org and ftp.debian.org.

    * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
      ineffective)?
apt-cache policy mpd

    * What was the outcome of this action?
mpd:
   Installed: (none)
   Candidate: (none)
   Version table:

    * What outcome did you expect instead?
There should be a mpd package again... otherwise all the mpd tools 
should be removed too ;)
