FTR, as I referenced this bug in d/rules: there is

  - #759008: libtdb1: FTBFS on hurd-i386
  - #759010: samba: FTBFS on hurd-i386

Probably. And then without SMB support, mpd FTBFS on hurd-i386 because

./src/thread/PosixMutex.hxx:57:59: error: temporary of non-literal type '__pthread_mutex' in a constant expression
    (https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=mpd&arch=hurd-i386&ver=0.19.13-1&stamp=1456276110)

Google comes up with http://bugs.musicpd.org/view.php?id=4387 which
links to http://bugs.musicpd.org/view.php?id=4110 - before applying the
NetBSD fix to hurd, someone should explain why the libc on hurd-i386
needs to behave differently to other Debian libc in this regard...
