ffmpeg status?

I've been initially arguing (and this is long ago) against a renamed 
source package but for a source called ffmpeg and a suffix to the 
version number to reflect the Debian-specific manipulation to the 
source - just as you proposed it.

I am still in favour of this alternative but I thought this would be 
impossible (1) because of upstream and ftp-master concerns to call it 
plain 'ffmpeg' and (2) because of the chance to upload an unstripped 
ffmpeg to non-free which would need another source name anyway.
