I couldn't find a commit mail to this revision, so I cannot reply inline
to the diff.
I'm sceptic with this change. The new copyright file now reads like
this in full:
,----
| Format-Specification: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/dep/web/deps/dep5.mdwn?op=file&rev=59
| Name: liba52
| Source: http://liba52.sourceforge.net
| Copyright: 2000-2002, Michel Lespinasse <walken at zoy.org>
| 1999-2000, Aaron Holtzman <aholtzma at ess.engr.uvic.ca>

| 1999-2000, Aaron Holtzman <aholtzma at ess.engr.uvic.ca>
| License: GPL-2+
| On Debian systems the full text of the GNU General Public
| License can be found in the `/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-2'
| file.
|
| Files: debian/*
| Copyright: 2009, Dmitrijs Ledkovs <dmitrij.ledkov at gmail.com>

| 2007, Sam Hocevar (Debian packages) <sam+deb at zoy.org>

| License: GPL-2+

| License can be found in the `/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-2'
| file.
`----
I identify the following regressions:
- it fails the requirement of GPL-2 paraphraph 1:
,----[ GPL-2]
| 1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's
| source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you
| conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate
| copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the
| notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any warranty;
| and give any other recipients of the Program a copy of this License
| along with the Program.
`----
NB: both "appropriate copyright notice" *AND* "disclaimer of
warranty" is *required*! This applies directly to each and every
binary package that is produced as well as ths source package, as
everything is GPL-2 licensed.
- it no longer tells where the file was uploaded from. cf. policy 12.5,
paragraph 2:
,----[ policy 12.5, paragraph 2]
| In addition, the copyright file must say where the upstream sources
| (if any) were obtained. It should name the original authors of the
| package and the Debian maintainer(s) who were involved with its
| creation.
`----
NB: this is a *must* directive. I know that many packages don't do
this anyway, but AFAIUI violating a *must* directive warrants a RC
bug.
As I'm not familiar at all with the mechanics of DEP-5, I'm reverting
this commit for now. I see no appearant problem fixed with this, but 2
serious regressions. Please note that I'm not opposed at all to DEP-5
and machine readable debian/copyrights at all, but I think we should be
extrodinary careful when it comes to legal matters.
