Hi Fabian,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Yes, I added my user to the pulse, pulse-access
and pulse-rt groups, and yes, other applications
work with pulse audio.

Please note that I disabled pulseaudio while
testing version 1.3.6-2 of audacity. 

I wasn't sure if it supported pulseaudio, so I
decided to avoid that issue by 

    1.) killing pulseadio's process, and 

    2.) removing the call to it in
    /etc/asound.conf.
