Bug#512383: libvlc: missing symlink /usr/lib/libvlc.so

Package: libvlc0
Version: 0.8.6.h-4+lenny2
Severity: important
File: libvlc

A program that uses libvlc does not find libvlc ( with an installed package libvlc0). After
installing the package libvlc0-dev that program does find the library libvlc. But i should
not have to install a dev package to run any program. I removed libvlc0-dev again and my
program does not find the library libvlc.
Now i checked /usr/lib and found:
libvlc.so.0.0.8
a symlink libvlc.so.0
but no libvlc.so
