I like it, because for most packages -- especially those using
autotools and even more especially those as simple as xvidcore -- it
just works [tm]. ;)

Yes, maybe this should really be added to the copyright entry. Maybe I
set the License to "GPL-2+ | other | other2" and add the additional
license information from within the file to "other" and the relevant
parts of the README file to "other2"...
How about the other changes? Is it OK for you if we check in my
packaging into the pkg-multimedia GIT?
