I'm don't know. it might be some shell scrip based on apt-cache depends
vlc and dpkg -l

The only possibly interresting lib missing is libpostproc.

But the ffmpeg is listed in the plugin list.

So could you delete ~/.vlc/*
and if it's not better could you attach the full log produced 
with "vlc -vvv"
