Hi team,
my preliminary tests in virtualbox show that the mplayer package is at
least useable. I'm even inclined to say that the package should be good
for unstable. However there are a few things that should be done
(possibly in the next upload):
- the rule dependencies break parallel builds. Andrea pointed this out
earlier, I didn't investigate this yet.
- bug #399606: GSM library license should be clarified
Andrea, you have been involved in this. Can you take another look at
it and if everthing is okay update debian/copyright and
debian/changelog?
- I haven't tested if the binary codecs downloader ist still
functional. TBH, I'm not sure if it is even useful or necessary with
modern mplayer/ffmpeg. In that case we'd better remove it, no?
- more bug triaging.
Given that mplayer in unstable is currently more or less unusable, I
think the current state should be somewhat 'good enough' for now, but I
agree that a lot of work still needs to be done. At least the new upload
will redirect bugreports to this mailing list.
