Hi
Ok I will go trough and list what I think could be improved in README.Debian
There is a section "FFmpeg names". It says that the stripped packages
will be named *-stripped-52 and that the (non existent) non-free
packages will keep the original name. This isn't the case again as the
stripped packages currently have the original name. Even if the
unstripped packages enter Debian, from what I understand they will use
the ubuntu namming convention *-unstripped-52.
The section about "disabled MPEG encoders" should be more specific
because most people don't have the source package and can't read
strip.sh. Anyways why would a user need to understand a shell script to
know what a package can't do?
From what I read in strip.sh, we could simply add :
"The following video encoders were disabled in debian because of patents
: H263, H264, MPEG2 video, MPEG4 and MS-MPEG4."
Next there is a section abouts patents, but only talks about MP3, AAC
and ASF. Is there a difference between those patents and those of the
mpeg encoders? If not it could be in the same section.
I hope this will help,
Xavier Douville
