The options you guys pass to configure look suspicious:

  --prefix=/usr
  --confdir=/etc/mplayer --datadir=/usr/share/mplayer --codecsdir=/usr/lib/codecs

The first makes the other three redundant.

  --enable-debug

Why do you use this flag?  It could be the cause for this build failure.
