I didn't mail to the list so far, because the documentation tends to
be pretty confusing
for beginners. It's not quite clear which steps I should take in which order.

The packages probably don't build in debian sid yet, since they require
valac 0.6.1. I probably can fix them to require sid's stock valac 0.5.7
by including a couple of vapi's in the source.

Also the packages are native ATM since debianization is included in
the source tree
and thus there is no watchlist.

Would be nice to get a bit of handholding maybe some help in
coordinating with the
vala packagers (I wrote a mail to them, but no response whatsoever yet).

Yes, I invested a couple of man months into Ardour 3.0 / MIDI and know
the project
quite well. (I have write access on Ardour): see
https://www.ohloh.net/p/ardour3/contributors

BTW, drobilla the other main Ardour MIDI dev, uses debian sid for development
(I use ubuntu 8.04). I could coordinate/help a bit with ardour packaging,
since paul davis complained about debian/ubuntu shipping broken packages,
so there seems to be a lack of communication: http://ardour.org/node/2543

Also, I have no pbuilder installed yet, because I live in Indonesia, it's
very painful: I tried the installation twice, and after some hours of
downloading,
the network connection would fluctuate and pbuilder would erase
everything downloaded,
so I just gave up on that since I have a bandwidth quota of 3GB.

I have a pretty fresh copy of debian sid as a vmware image though.

Kind regards,
Hans
