There seems to be a general misunderstanding: It is generally *not*
necessary to formally join some team to start contributing. You can
still contribute by submitting patches via email and get them
reviewed. In fact, that is probably to most common way to get involved
in a team or project: first submit contribution and based on the quality
of these contributions, become a team member.
