Wait a minute...

Would removing the multiple copies of debian/control* mean that it is 
not possible anymore to rebuild unstripped packages from what you get 
by "apt-get source ffmpeg"?

If this is true, I am strongly against it! We shouldn't bother our 
users to check out a separate git branch of our packaging of which 90% 
is in place already anyway.
