Bug#554705: mhwaveedit: recording doesn't work

Package: mhwaveedit
Version: 1.4.15-2
Severity: important

I select Play/Record/Sample Format. When I select any one, a pop-up informs me
that "Could not connect to the JACK server". I have no idea what this means.
I tried installing jackd, but that doesn't fix the problem.
