Yes, it is a CVS snapshot.

No, I am not a fan of that.  Allessio did the snapshot - but apparently 
without testing if it actually worked, judging from the hours I spent 
today fixing autotools bootstrapping, and his questions about needed 
dependencies :-(

I will now take a break from this mess...
