milkytracker format and dfsg

Hi all,
I am trying to update the milkytracker package to the latest upstream
version (0.90.85).

The orig tarball of the current version in Debian has been modified by
removing the directory "platforms/" which contains some compressed files
for various building environments and systems (xcoder fo Mac OS x,
devcpp and Visual Studio for Windows, ...) and the "+dfsg" string has been
added to the source tarball.
All of the files comes with no copyright/license, so I was wondering if
it makes sense to remove them and add +dfsg to the source tarball since
they don't infringe the DFSG (in addition the maintainance of the package
would be much simpler without this step).
What do you think? (you can check out the upstream tarballs here [0]).

Also, the package is in the 1.0 format, do you think is it ok to switch to
3.0 (quilt) and convert the diff.gz patch to quilt (as for Debian
Multimedia Team policy)?

Cheers
