There have been no code changes in mplayer between these two
versions. Therefore for me it is rather hard to believe that these
crashes originate from a bug in the mplayer package. Can you prehaps
recompile the package yourself and see if this fixes the symptoms?

well, then try seting 'ulimit -c unlimited' and load the resulting
corefiles in gdb.
