Nice that you added trailing ~ for backporting friendliness. That was
not what triggered my question, though.
I do not know which version of debhelper is needed for which reasons
(especially if you use short-form dh).
Reason I asked is that your commit message described only what you did,
not hinting at _why_ you did it. This is not mandatory, but nice.
I would love instead a message like this (note also capitalization):
Changed debhelper version in dependencies: we use dh_foo (since
1.2-3).
I generally favor below style - all on a single line in git commits, and
then generously (and always before bug-closures) replace dot-space with
dot-newline-indent when later generating/finalizing changelog entry:
* ACTION [(CLARIFICATION)][: REASON [(CLARIFICATION)]].
[BUG-CLOSURES. [THANKS]]
